Gigaflops (gflops) are generated by AI Cores and converted to hashes by Entanglement Stations. Each core generates .2 gflops per day (.1 per second). Production is not based upon game years, but only real-world game run time. TC shattering has no effect on gflops. Gflops is a hidden resource, but can be revealed by clicking the gear menu in the non-crafted resources pane and enabling "Show hidden resources".
Entanglement Stations each consume 0.1 gflops per tick while AI Cores produce 0.02 gflops per tick. Therefore a ratio of 5:1 AI Cores to Entanglement Stations will ensure the gflops count doesn't increase and the AI level stays the same (except during Charon and Redmoon cycles with Numerology).
Gflops are used to calculate AI Level. If nothing consumes gigaflops, or one owns too few Entanglement Stations, they continue to accumulate throughout the run time. AI Level is calculated as: Round(Ln(gflops). Therefore, once you reach 1982759.28 gigaflops (just over e^14.5), you will hit AI Level 15, the AI Apocalypse.
When the AI Apocalypse happens, once a year the AI will destroy 1% of your resources for every AI level over 14.
Because the AI Level calculation is logarithmic, it will take an extensive amount of game time to reach the next level. How much time exactly depends on how many AI Core upgrades you have purchased.
Crafted resources, as well as the following non-crafted resources, are exempt from the Apocalypse:
