Early on, they are acquired by trading, with a 10% chance of getting 1 Blueprint with every successful transaction.
After Physics is researched, Blueprints can be crafted in the workshop from compendiums.
The CAD System upgrade increases the effectiveness of crafting blueprints from Compendiums, giving +0.01 blueprint for each scientific building whenever you craft. This effect does not count any space buildings.
